Protecting Spatiotemporal Event Privacy in Continuous Location-Based Services

چکیده

Location privacy-preserving mechanisms (LPPMs) have been extensively studied for protecting users' location privacy by releasing a perturbed to third parties such as location-based service providers. However, when user's locations are released continuously, existing LPPMs may not protect the sensitive information about real-world activities, “visited hospital in last week” or “regularly commuting between A and B every weekday” (it is easy infer that be home office), which we call it spatiotemporal event. In this paper, first formally define event Boolean expressions time predicates, then ε-spatiotemporal extending notion of differential privacy. Second, understand how much can provide, design computationally efficient algorithms quantify leakage state-of-the-art LPPMs. It turns out adequately Third, propose framework, PriSTE, transform an LPPM into one calibrating LPPM's budgets. Our experiments on real-life synthetic data verified proposed method effective efficient.

Protecting query privacy in location-based services

The popularity of location-based services (LBSs) leads to severe concerns on users’ privacy. With the fast growth of Internet applications such as online social networks, more user information becomes available to the attackers, which allows them to construct new contextual information. This gives rise to new challenges for user privacy protection and often requires improvements on the existing...

Enhancing Customer Privacy for Commercial Continuous Location-Based Services

The likelihood of consumers to use commercial location-based services significantly depends on their perception of privacy protection by the service provider. In this paper we discuss existing privacy-enhancing architectures for LBS and argue that they are either not applicable or insufficient for services requiring continuous location queries. In order to offer such services providers often pr...

Protecting Privacy Against Location-Based Personal Identification

This paper presents a preliminary investigation on the privacy issues involved in the use of location-based services. It is argued that even if the user identity is not explicitly released to the service provider, the geo-localized history of user-requests can act as a quasi-identifier and may be used to access sensitive information about specific individuals. The paper formally defines a frame...
